The clients of the San Luis Obispo Museum of Modern Art (SLOMA) came to us with a tight site, a tight program and a tight budget. They wanted to maximize the usable area of their creek-side location next to the Mission in downtown SLO.
The building design focusses on enclosing gallery spaces and controlling natural light while the openness of the atrium and cafe spaces draw in the surrounding nature. There is also a basement level for document storage and preparation with staff offices. This modern design stands out as street-side composition for all to come in an enjoy.
