South Chicago became a dead zone after most of the industry abandoned the area, leaving behind a polluted wasteland without value.  PLyS (Peel-Layer-Surface) brings together all methods of circulation (train, boat, auto, bicycle and pedestrian) with supporting programs that will reconnect South Chicago with the rest of the city.  The design creates peels, layers and surfaces as a means to generate programmatic pockets for the South Chicago neighborhoods, returning value and spurring population growth for the region.
