E4H provided architectural and interiors fit-out programming, design, documentation, and construction administration services for two floors of primary care outpatient clinics, one pediatric and one adult, at 186 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, NY.
Programmatically, each floor contains seven to eight exam rooms, and five practitioner offices in addition to shared support spaces distributed across each floor to accommodate the respective practices. While both floors offered the same clinical program, special attention was given to the pediatric floor to accommodate parents and additional family members with larger exam rooms and a larger waiting room that includes a dedicated infant waiting space, stroller parking, and a discrete mother’s lactation room. Both floors were designed with a sophisticated interiors palette featuring elements reflecting the clinics’ location in historic Brooklyn, while following Weill Cornell Medicine’s standards. The pediatric floor includes playful and engaging design elements such as touch-activated light and color panels in the waiting room for positive distractions. Of special note is the creative feature wall design in the elevator lobbies of each floor, where the wood wall panels and custom light fixtures mimic the skylines of both Manhattan and Brooklyn and the connecting Brooklyn Bridge between.
