Schematic Design phase for the expansion and renovation of the existing City of Riverside Convention Center. The Center, built in 1972, Riverside, California, is comprised of approximately 50,000 square feet (sq. ft.) of ball rooms, flexible meeting, and exhibit hall space. The schematic program proposes approximately 30,000 sq.ft..... of additional space divided throughout the building’s 3 levels. This includes the expansion of the exhibit hall and additional square footage of breakout rooms. Other proposed expansion areas include a concourse, restrooms, lobbies, ballrooms, roof top terrace, storage rooms, and service areas. The proposed schematic recommends the renovation of the Center’s plaza featuring enhanced hardscape and landscape, illuminated fountains, elements of military heritage, seating and gathering areas, attractive lighting, improved access to adjacent Hotels, and a pedestrian bridge that connects the Center to Third Street.
