Project:
The renovation of an advertising agency office, located on 8th Avenue in Chelsea.
Description:
As a shared place where we spend a large portion of our time, we believe the office environment should reflect a sensitivity to light, air and energy. The design for this project focused on framing each room—from the conference areas to the open studio space to the private offices—to produce a passage of light and air throughout the space.
Even when the number of windows is limited, the transparent walls within the office allow for the rooms to fold into each other, permitting a smooth circulation of limited natural light. The reception area extends into the conference room, which sits inside the open studio, but maintains a feeling of privacy. The conference room was calibrated with special acoustic panels embedded in the wall, and the view to the outside is framed by a lens-like opening that focuses and directs the view past the open-space studio and towards the sky and beyond.
