Big House

The site is a peninsula on the Sava river adjacent to the city centre, which hosts a crowded beach and a natural park with an inner lake. Bigness is expressed first by shape: nine cilinders intersected by three cones, placed around three regular triangles and connected by curves. Finally it is emphasized by structure: the building grouws around nine huge pillars which provide vertical circulation and carries the large light between them through a system of two pre-casted slabs connected by a lattice framework, wich defines the openings of the apartments. The so given open plan floors are used as parking spots, offices and facilities for tenants, while the closed floors are apartments of various sizes and typologies.
