Conservation management plan for Kothamangalam temples

Arulmigu Brammapurishwarar Thirukovil is situated within the boundaries of Kothamangalam village, Lalgudi, which falls under the Trichy district, Tamil Nadu. The temple complex is surrounded by roads on all four sides which are circumscribed by settlements. The Brammapurishwarar temple is in a state of complete ruins where traces of only two structures namely the Garbhagriha of the shiva shrine and another shrine which according to sthapathya veda belongs to Subramanian are found.

Firstly scientific clearance of the site along with an archaeologist was carried out where the stone blocks in piles were arranged and methodologically numbered. Following this all the retrieved stones were individually documented and drawing were prepared. The stone blocks with inscriptions were documented separately and an epigraphist to document it and interpret it was involved. This was then followed by the theoretical reconstruction of the entire temple complex with the help of the traditional architect; sthapathy and Aagama expert
