KIA Champions Field

Gwangju-Kia Champions Field is a renovation of Mudeung Baseball Stadium initially built in 1965. It was developed to boost regional image and to improve local economic activities.

The residents worked together with the developmental crew by participating in designing iconic sculptures and incorporating street tiles with their names etched on them thus creating an embracing and resident friendly atmosphere. Especially, Champions Way is the center of many public structures including children's playground, baseball museum andd 5.18 Protest Movement Memorial. It provides residents cultural experiences and leisure through various programs.

Compared to its previous, sole purpose of watching baseball games, the renovation increased the efficiency of the structure, making it beneficially functional to the residents even when the game is not on. As a result of enhancing the presentation and creating local landmarks, the local economy as well as real estate values boosted. Also, by constructing ‘interactive media gate’ on the exterior of the stadium and applying unified graphic identity, the popularity and efficiency of the structure has improved significantly.
