Stadium Squared is a ULI Competition entry aimed to re-envision the district surrounding the existing Vikings Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. The district, sandwiched between a busy downtown and other destinations such as a hospital community and campus is currently PASSED THROUGH, NOT seen as A PLACE. Our tactic is to CREATE a SPACE that MAKES it a PLACE. On the given parcels to work with, we created a hierarchy of a HIGH DENSITY OUTER BAND of development to satisfy ECONOMIC DRIVERS and to create views into and out of the district. The LOW DENSITY MIDDLE BAND creates a more HUMAN SCALE setting that is walkable and available for SMALLer BUSINESSES. The LINEAR PARK INNER AND provides the PUBLIC SPACE in which people can enjoy the lower density developments and tailgate for the game on Sundays.
