location for our clients to envisage their new farmhouse
retreat. The views of the great Babylonstoren mountains
set the stage for us to open the north facade and
introduce gable walls to the East and West while
maintaining adequate overhangs for protection.
The beauty and serenity of the surrounding landscape
infiltrates the architecture, which has a sense of the
past due to some captured contextual elements;
a double volume barn aesthetic, thick walls, and a
deep veranda, which give it the ‘Contemporary Cape
Dutch’ feel.
The farmhouse replicates the design of the Barn, which
stores farming machinery and includes and integrated
guest house.
