A LUXURY GREEN HOME OVERLOOKING ONE OF CAPE TOWN’S TOP BEACHES
20 Leeukoppie Road is a new project currently under construction. It is designed as a holiday home for a French family to enjoy the Cape summer months. The building is made up of two components separating the children from the parents’ quarters. These two separate buildings are connected underground with an internal funicular. This self-sufficient ‘Green Home’ is designed with a minimalist, modern, and contemporary style. The planning and circulation of the two buildings has been carefully coordinated to accommodate the functions of the clients’ main house and the children’s annex.
SUSTAINABILITY AND NATURAL MATERIALS
The home is designed with sustainable materials and energy-saving photo-voltaic technology. Electromagnetic field testing indicated the possibility of underground water which was drilled and discovered at 100 meters, a rare find in Llandudno.
Utilising existing fabric saves energy and this approach is carried through with sustainable building components and materials that have improved energy consumption and the building’s overall thermal performance.
