After years of student enrollment growth, Packer Collegiate Institute, a private preparatory school in Brooklyn, had exhausted all the appropriate learning space on its campus. With no reasonable option to purchase nearby land in its high-density, high-value neighborhood, Packer needed to improve the function of the real estate it already owned.

This project expanded the learning footprint for the school with a 12,000 square foot addition extending into an 1840s row house. Unanimously approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the architecture plan carefully preserved and repurposed historic elements throughout the structure. The new space included classrooms, offices, restrooms, an ideation lab, a fab lab, a campus center, and a terrace.
