Art Deco House

The client brief to us for the 3 BHK residence was to create an exclusive and cozy home for them and their two daughters. The client had given us  an upper hand on the design. We decided to go for the currently trending Art Deco theme in majority of the house; right from the entrance of the house to the master bedroom . At the entrance is a very architectural element from that style; a big key stone with golden trimming reminiscent of Empire State building.  A beautifully crafted door panel finished in veneer with delicate brass grill compliments the key stone element . Sherbet coloured wall with white ornamental pilasters in the passage leads one into the living room that resonates the Art Deco theme. The rose tinted interiors of the living room make a strong and bold statement. Characterised by rich colour, bold geometry and decadent detail work; the living room is vibrant. A fixed dining area was not needed so we planned for a drop down table with a beautiful etched glass top. When closed this etched glass  forms part of the wall panel; with mirrors on either side that help create illusion of volume. We have also picked the chevron pattern reminiscent of the art deco style. Having this pattern on the fabrics to the geometry on the kitchen shutters. The black and white chevron print runs along the length of the parallel platforms. A pop of colour, Teal has been used sparingly on the overhead unit. The opulence of gold has been strewn across the area in the form of handles, metal inlay work and paint. The aesthetics unite the various sections of the long passage with various elements of Art Deco. The passage - kitchen and the living room have been done in complementary colour scheme whereas the master bedroom is a distinct representation of the same style. A 3D chevron pattern headboard made of the veneer and colour lamination resonates the style but in a way that makes it unique to the room. Being a smaller room we used mirror shutters again to add volume.

The elder daughters bedroom is very modern english. With a stark indigo blue wardrobe that is a stand out in the overall ice grey room. The headboard fabric adds to the contrast. The bed is underlit to give it a floating effect. The ceiling profile is sloping giving it an attic room feel. The younger daughter wanted the room to be clutter free, keeping it minimal we had a low bed. Walnut tones to give warmth and linear geometry followed to give it more length.
