Housing project with total 30 units of Single storey Semi-detached Houses (1400sf) to be built on 3 acres land at Kuala Langat, Selangor, MY.

To full fill client’s requirement of classic Malay-style kampung house, also known as “Rumah Melayu”, these homes were designed to consider for functional elements, cultural and environmental factors. The entire home is elevated on stilts above ground to avoid flooding and ground moisture, and catch winds of higher velocity, thus allow for better ventilation through the gap below floor.

The elongated open plan layout of living, dining and kitchen ensures cross ventilation throughout the entire house with minimum walls, also encourages family activities in a bigger internal space. The houses intentionally celebrate the large roof overhangs with wide windows to provide protection from heavy rain and shields internal spaces from sun glare.

The ornamentation is also added by decorate the roof eaves with wood carvings motifs and perforated screen with arch to fortify malay house concept, which is also part of sun shading device.
