Springfield College may be most famous as the birthplace of basketball, but it is no stranger to water. The College's East Campus is dominated by beautiful Lake Massasoit and its surrounding 82-acre forest. A new College boathouse to store canoes and kayaks will support programs ranging from outdoor recreation, training, and team building to an 80-year-old summer day camp. The design, which also includes a covered outdoor area, utilizes low-maintenance materials - split-face block and fiber cement siding - allowing it to blend inconspicuously into the landscape, while a translucent transom allows daylight in.
