Rural School in Haiti

Our intervention focuses on generating the simplest of the strategies. Over an anti-seismic concrete platform, we create a built line. This line is subsequently made out of eighteen exact timber modules of 3.5 x 7 x 3.5 meters, nine modules per phase. each module will contain the necessary division elements so that, alone or combined, each programmed scape can be born.

Each phase of construction is strongly tied to the learning process of the young students, becoming them a fundamental part on the construction of their new school.

Phase 1: The students, who are still in the old school, will learn the basis of the agriculture while volunteers build the first nine modules. Meanwhile, students will plant seeds as planned and watch them grow.

Phase 2: Students will move to their new school while second phase is begun in construction. The seeds would have turned into crops and have delimited external playground spaces.

Phase 3: Once the construction line is completed and the crop field is filled, the students will continue with the cyclical learning process, self stocking for school. A creative wall towards the playground area is decorated with clay tiles made from local people.
