Krøyersplads is an abandoned site in the historic district of Christianshavn in Copenhagen. A quite valuable piece of real estate, this under-utilized waterfront site has gone through several temporary-use remedies while awaiting a permanent design. This project required that implement several new building volumes in order to create engaging outdoor and connective spaces; additionally, partial-residential use was mandatory. I chose to create a residential and commercial development centered around its ability to be a shared public space with the Copenhagen citizenry. With both enclosed and open courtyard and boardwalk spaces, residents and guests alike might enjoy the harborwalk and groundfloor restaurants and shops. Many similar and successful examples exist in Copenhagen today.
