As the world largest Westin Resort, the Westin Shimei Bay Resort covers an area of about 12,000 square meters, embraced by mountains and facing the ocean. The resort enjoys an exclusive 6-kilometer pure beach of Shimei Bay, and a precious 4,000-year-old vatica mangachapoi forest community. For the sake of the blessed scenery and agreeable climate, the 20 villas along side the hotel main building of the hotel remains a humble height. Instead of soaring up high as urban architectures do, the villas stands at the eye level as the horizon, with an attitude of returning to  the ground.

To grow towards the ground is indeed an journey of search and also a return to the land and nature. Starting from this perspective, YANG continues the hotel narrative “Exploring the Vatica mangachapoi Forest”. Using materials like linen, bamboo, rattan, wood, stone, etc. designers create a peculiar original resort space and diversified holiday experience in line with the Westin’s Villa design philosophy.

The VIP villa allows one to coexist with and explore the fantastic nature. Green area rugs, rattan chairs, wood chunk table, branch table lamp, pillows in orange and green, etc. work together to have the sky, the earth and the entire nature included in the space, creating an ultimate relaxing experience. Accompanied by waves and chriping, one listens to the sea, watches the moon, chats around and sleeps sound, having him/herself fully indulged in the tranquility of nature and time.

The spacious VIP villa is a ideal place for family reunion and friend gatherings. YANG tries to minimize the number of items introduced into the space--only with several units of sofas, the large living room has been divided into different areas, catering to the need of large group communication and also suitable for intimate conversations within smaller groups. In addition to the comfortable ambience for close relationships, beautiful scenery has been integrated with the space through large-scale windows, while natural beauty been deconstructed by an artistic perspective through abstract paintings hanging above the bed, echoing the greenery outside .

Improved Ming furniture, linen fabric, lamp with round cloth shadow and wood veneer wall work together to create a subtle Chinese charm in the Chinese-style villa. Used as accents, the green and orange colors extracted from the trees seamlessly resembles the rhythm of light and life. Elegant Chinese style and cheerful holiday spirit harmoniously coexist in the villa, making it a perfect place for leisure, relaxation and self-indulgence. 

If a pure and rustic life is what you are looking for, the American-style villas definitely worth a try. Mottled bamboo decorations on the wall and ceiling, accompanied by warm yellow lighting, create a warm ambience of idyllic lifestyle, depicting the beauty of the ever-changing nature. Just by sitting there, one feels the simple and nostalgic American country style through rough stone TV background wall, leather sofa and striped pillow.

French romance is always irresistible. Blue colors of different saturation connect the indoor and outdoor spaces, introducing the tranquility and depth of the ocean while interpreting the French style elegance and exquisiteness.

Step aside from romance, and further unveil the mystery of the tropical nature, here enters the rain forest style villas with Southeast Asian bamboo-woven sloping roof. Light and thick hue along with outright and understated patterns of the bed backdrop wallcovering shows the sophistication of natural texture as well as the simplicity of exotic life. 

By looking at the blue ocean and sky from the modern villa, one gets to put his/her busy life on pause and just to wander around inside the simple stylish space. Colorful carpets interpret fashion trends and also symbolize the encountering of mountains, rivers, oceans and clouds. Crisp shapes of furniture tells the story of high-quality life.
