Located in a primarily residential section of Leimert Park, IZZI Cafe is a local gathering spot for community members and neighbors. The design brief was to create a space that is at once austere and welcoming. No frills or overly designed statements, the interiors are inspired by Moroccan architecture where there is a focus on materiality and a space aging with use.
Plaster lime wash covers the walls and built in benches, while Moroccan Zellige tile and exposed concrete floors lend themselves to durability. Attention to light, texture and warmth have transformed a former attorney's office into a cozy 800 s.f. cafe.
