The Eagle Network Hub is the central sorting facility for the United States Postal Express and Priority Mail services. The Building, Internal Conveyors, and Air/Land Side site work was awarded via a national competition and delivered as Design/Build Turn Key.
The project consists of 44 acres of airside apron and landside ramp flatwork. The building contains 365,000 sf of interior sorting space, truck dock, and offices. A unique feature is the immediate site ground control tower. A separate maintenance structure was built on the site, along with two ground equipment canopies.
The total project cost was $62 million and was finished in 1992.. As a guaranteed contract, the delivery time for the project including design was 52 weeks. The D/B team accomplished this in 50 weeks. I worked as the Architectural Project Manager and designer for this project under another concern. This project won the 1992 Indianapolis AIA Honor Award.
