Silvia Ruiz-Poveda Lomba, AIA member since January 2022, is a Master Architect from Polytechnic University of Madrid / ETSAM, a NAAB accredited 5 year architecture school, graduated in 2016. A civil engineer student and an artist. Actually working as a Job Captain in Los Angeles, California.
Due to her interest in arts and cinema, she combined her studies at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London in Art Direction (summer of 2012), Film Production at UCLA (summer of 2014) and a year abroad Architecture at Seoul National University (SNU).
Worked on the development of different project typologies such as entertainment, commercial, hospitality and residential from Schematic Design up to Plan Check in Los Angeles Area mostly, on REVIT 360.
She is an experienced BIM Architect with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture & planning industry in Spain and the United States. The strong Arts and Design skills she has, makes her a professional architectural designer focused in Sustainable Architecture Design in large and small scale buildings and different typologies such as entertainment, hospitality and residential. Approaching projects with an awareness of the context, scale and natural light is her main focus. As architecture has the chance to make things better for future's people, is also able to expand concepts of the senses and the perception of our world through a delicate approach of the program, materials and spaces that will mature through time.
Silvia ended her Master in Architecture creating a new Pier typology in Huntington Beach, California. Extremely concerned about sustainability concepts and natural energy sources that the project is capable to reuse, the project became a new structure that allows the program to grow. Compacted to the site over the ocean to receive the minimum impact to re-use the sources which are exposed for multiple uses, such as Surf Museum, Aquarium, surf and skate schools, restaurants and a greenhouse. While maintaining the permeability the old Pier has, the new structure generates a green architecture for the city of Huntington Beach.
Silvia has lived between Madrid, Paris, Seoul, London, Los Angeles, San Sebastián and Biarritz, giving her an adaptable and flexible attitude that her Architecture approach shows. She has collaborated with different Architecture studios accomplishing competitions, such as M-RAD in Los Angeles, for LAGI 2019 Competition in Masdar City, proposing an alternative solution for a sustainable architecture. As she is very interested in work also with arts, music and scenography, eventually collaborates with artists to design their music album and film directors in set design, sound, photography direction and editing, due her studies in Film Production and Art in Film in UCLA and Central Saint Martin in London respectively.
