The Silver Room is a jewelry, accessories, and clothing store set in the heart of Wicker Park, Chicago. The owners were getting ready for the busy summer season of shopping, eating, and drinking. They also wanted a space for local artists to display their work within The Silver Room.
The Silver Room program called for a more modern and polished look. I spent my winter internship trying to get them there. My job was to design display cases for clothing, sunglasses, jewelry, and handbags. I wanted some of the display pieces to double as furniture since The Silver Room is a gallery and event space as well as a retail space.
I used geometric shapes and clean lines as my
inspiration. For the interior palette, we decided to implement a clean, white backdrop to allow the many different pieces of merchandise and art hanging throughout the store to add color. Backlight glass, in the back of the store, is the backdrop for suspended paintings.
