Lola’s is a restaurant and lounge space set within a luxury hotel in downtown Chicago.
This space was inspired by the jazz and blues music of
Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Etta James. Celebrating these woman’s voices and the mark they left on music and woman’s history, the design of this space started with the curved staircase. With a backdrop of white gold leaf and suspended
chandeliers, this curved staircase allows for a dramatic entrance onto the stage that can only be made by the diva “ Lola” herself. Taking into consideration what the clientele of a high-end restaurant/hotel would want, this space holds within it; a wine bar, stage view seating, elevated private booths, and outdoor lounge seating. On the second floor, a modern lounge is
surrounded by the evening city scape, with look-down aerial views of the stage below, and private outdoor seating and cabanas.
The color palette is inspired by the Cajun cooking of New Orleans, the mother city of jazz. Colors and
materials consists of woods, brass, golds, reds, and of course the city lights of the Chicago skyline.
