Beach House

This project was constructed during 2nd year architecture school as a studio project. the goal of the project was to create an open air beach house which would utilize sunlight, allow ventilation, and capture views, as well as practice proper wood construction. The site for the project is on the coast of South Carolina. The red dot on the base of the model indicates the southern face of the structure. One issue the program presented was the issue of by-passers using the private boardwalk as a short cut to the beach. Therefore, the boardwalk had to be designed to discourage random people from using it. The model is 1":4' scale, and is hand crafted from balsa and basswood.
