The project looks at the historical defensive roles of specific typologies of mosques - Coastal, Fortress and Madrasa mosques - of the Island of Djerba, Tunisia, and proposes new defensive properties for those deserted structures in the face of rising water threat to the island. To deal with this drastic environmental change on the island the project introduces an Educational Institution inside and adjacent to the mosques to provide technical knowledge and support for a new aquaculture economy that makes use of the changing water levels.
