Southhampton Ponquogue Bathing Facility

The main deck area has been expanded to include increased seating areas both shaded and open along the ocean side of the deck. Since the new deck structure will connect to the existing structure, Alaskan Yellow Cedar glulam’s was incorporated for both the piles and the new deck structure. Alaskan Yellow Cedar glulam’s are manufactured from naturally durable wood species and are well suited for creating beautiful and functional waterfront structures.

Wood’s ability to absorb impact forces created by traffic and its natural resistance
to chemicals, such as those used for deicing, make it ideal for these installations.
Additionally, glulam products have been successfully used for pedestrian, forest,
highway, and railway bridges for many years with outstanding reliability. Comparing
other structural materials, glulam beams have the lowest energy requirements for its manufacture; significantly reducing the use of fossil fuels and pollution of our environment compared to other materials.
