A high-profile resort club for Unitech Limited, the design exudes architectural finesse, seamlessly tying the indoors with the outdoors
A prominent resort club located in the South City Township, the Unitech Patio Club has a well-equipped health club, restaurant, bar, banquet hall and guest suites, party lawns, a large swimming pool and indoor and outdoor sports facilities. It is an oasis of quietude in the fast-paced urban setting of Gurugram. Nestled between a cover of thick green foliage and surrounded by high-rise residential complexes, the club offers an ideal getaway and a place of solitude within the city. The design approach involved the Architects creating an ensemble of spaces, using an intricate understanding of volumes and planning a seamless transition in-between. With a low-rise demeanour, the Architects restricted the built expanse on the land, resulting in a vast swathe of open space and, in the process, creating a sculptural edifice.

While moving in and around the club, one is able to gauge ‘space’ as an essential design element, around which the Architects ideated their design. Starting from the drop-off area, which curves into a grand space under an impressive protruding vault, the visitors are left in awe of the design. The double height of the drop-off is balanced by the low-height entrance lobby which leads the visitors, once again, to a double-height central courtyard. The carefully curated and planned volume of spaces strikes as an impressive understanding of spatial design. The architectural finesse lies in allowing the built and unbuilt to come together in a synergy and provide a unique visual experience to visitors. The pristine white façade is accentuated with a mosaic work of Persian blue tiles on the side walls, complementing the green landscape. The vault roof of the club acts as skylight and regulates natural ventilation and daylight inside the building. The inner courtyard beneath has been extravagantly landscaped – a curvaceous water body unifies the different elements such as the bridges, open sit-out spaces and the dense greens. The architectural design approach of fusing the structural expressionism with delicate mosaic works integrates the landscape and provides a memorable experience for any visitor.
