The goal of this design project was to replace the existing Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium with newly revitalized architectural theme. This particular infrastructure will serve as the public hub for many of the collections and research areas of the University of Arizona. Many of these historical collections are currently behind anonymous and poorly designed spaces. The site of this projects features a clear axis along the university mall, which is an integral element of the campus. This facility lies at a corner where there is a lot pedestrian and vehicular circulation. This purpose of this redevelopment is to attract the attention to students, faculty and to the public where they all can have the opportunity to experience the exterior and interior spaces of this facility while walking along the ‘iconic’ university mall on campus.
