The Hollywood Commons provides 32 luxury apartment units in the heart of Portland’s Hollywood district and adjacent to a light rail station, grocery store, retail, and other amenities. For this transit-oriented development project, the client challenged the project team to design three separate standalone structures for different investor groups on three 50x100 residential lots. The individual sites had been up-zoned due to their proximity to light rail, but the small lot sizes required compact and creative solutions. The three-story structures were designed with generous glazing to capture views west to downtown Portland and the Willamette River.
