    Journal of Architectural Education Executive Editor Renews Tenure and Names Six New Editorial Board Members

    The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture is pleased to announce the reappointment of Marc J. Neveu as Executive Editor of the Journal of Architectural Education (JAE) for a four-year term. During his first term, he oversaw the redesign of the print journal by graphic design studio Project Projects, and the launch of, an expanded digital platform, which was the result of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The JAE has been the primary venue for research and commentary on architectural education since it was founded in 1947. Published twice a year, the JAE is the longest running journal of its kind.

    The JAE editorial board has also named Carolina Dayer as new Associate Editor, Design and five new editorial board members.

    Marc J. Neveu, PhD, Woodbury University 

    Marc has recently been named Associate Dean of the School of Architecture at Woodbury University. Prior to this appointment, Neveu was Chair of graduate and undergraduate architecture programs in the School of Architecture, Los Angeles. Much of Neveu’s research considers the role of history in contemporary praxis. He has published on the origins of architectural education in the Italian eighteenth century as well as our contemporary context.

    Carolina Dayer, PhD, Aarhus School of Architecture

    Carolina is a licensed architect in her native country, Argentina. Her research, teaching, and original work intersects theoretical and experimental forms of architectural representation with cultural, political and material practices. She recently published her co-edited book entitled Confabulations: Storytelling in Architecture and she is currently working on her latest co-edited book entitled Activism in Architecture: The Bright Dreams of Passive Energy.

    Elizabeth Golden, University of Washington 

    Elizabeth Golden is an architect and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Washington, where she teaches in the areas of design, materials, and building technology, with an emphasis on sustainable systems. Since joining the UW faculty in 2009, she has organized and participated in a series of design initiatives that combine expertise from the University of Washington, nonprofits, governmental agencies, and other educational institutions. These collaborations have resulted in the realization of the Gohar Khatoon Girls’ School in Afghanistan, and Niamey 2000, a multifamily housing project located in the capital of Niger.

    Clare Lyster, University of Illinois at Chicago

    Clare Lyster is an architect and writer whose work focuses on the design of the city from the perspective of contemporary theories in landscape, and infrastructure. She is author of Learning from Logistics: How Networks Change Cities (Birkhäuser, 2016) and co-editor of Third Coast Atlas, A Prelude to a Plan (ACTAR, Winter 2016) with Ibañez, Waldheim and White. Previously she edited, Envisioning the Bloomingdale: 5 Concepts (Chicago Architecture Club, 2009) and 306090 vol. 09, Regarding Public Space, with Cecilia Benites (PA Press, 2005). She is a registered architect in New York and Illinois.

    Jacob Mans, University of Minnesota

    Jacob is an Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota. His work focuses on the influence of large-scaled environmental systems on small-scaled building performance, looking at how building systems can spur local economic development. He is currently researching social behaviors attached to habits of consumption and conservation with a design focus on the mediums of wood and fire.

    Igor Marjanović, Washington University

    Igor Marjanović is professor of architecture and chair of the undergraduate architecture program in the Sam Fox School, where he teaches courses in architectural design, history, and theory. Marjanović's research examines architectural pedagogy as a critical territory of wider architectural culture, and, more broadly, the role of drawings, texts, exhibitions, and other visual media in the construction of architectural discourses. He has taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he served as Interim Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Iowa State University, where he served as Director of the Core Design Program.

    Sara Stevens, University of British Columbia

    Sara is an architectural and urban historian. Her interests include the history and theory of architecture and urban design, urban history, economic theory, and the history of infrastructure. Her research focuses on the relationship between architecture and capital, looking at American real estate developers of the twentieth century and exploring the cultural economy of architectural practice, risk, and expertise. Before coming to UBC, Sara has taught in the schools of architecture at Rice, Columbia, Princeton, and Yale.
