Mount Baldy Tanaka House

In the mountain of Mount Baldy lies a 600 square foot residence for a Japanese film maker to use as a vacation house.  The house is on a hillside, cantilevering over a valley.  Movement from exterior to interior occurs around natural patterned facade.  As one descends down from the mountain into the residence, the circulation leads through the programs as a journey from living room all the way to the bedroom caved underground.  The lofted work space is not designed as part of the journey to avoid working in the vacation, but not limited.  This journey was replicated from the life cycle of plant.  It was designed by the idea of growing from the nature and merging to the nature.
