During the design process, I ultimately intended to create a momento that would encompass my academic career. Piet Mondrian has been a source of inspiration a number of times and felt it was appropriate to pay an homage though the geometry of this coffee table. Playing with the weight, size, and proportion, this soft maple coffee table was designed for my humble San Francisco studio apartment. The ribbon of wood on the lower hemisphere of the table substitute for table legs, protecting my clumsy toes. The upper shelves house the ever disappearing remote controls and neighbor a basket of design magazines. The front facade was constructed with the Le Corbusier home in mind.
