The National Center for Environmental Health is a multi-disciplinary, automated high-throughput laboratory facility designed to provide critical research, analytical and related scientific services key to the efforts of public health, agricultural, emergency response, law enforcement, intelligence, and national security communities. It has been designed to fill a key role in protecting the health, safety and welfare of national and international populations in response to any number and type of chemically related environmental situations, emergencies and threats for decades to come. Perkins+Will’s design addressed the CDC’s need for maximum flexibility and adaptability to accommodate changing equipment needs or shifts in program emphasis over the life of the building.
