RISD second life store is a nonprofit, student-run, upcycling program at the Rhode Island School of Design. They collect usable art supplies and raw materials and redistribute them back into community. A user can trade materials or leave a monetary donation for what they take. They not only sell used art supplies, but also hold events at night. It is located on Westminster street which is a heart of downtown, its accessibility is good for special occasion. The existing condition of the store was not able to accommodate the increasing flow of customers and frequently updating stocks, nor the potentials of those multiple space functions for different events. So the intervention was to provide a modular system based on grid track concept where the unit elements can be moved along and track and rearranged to create different spatial configurations.
