House M

The site is in a rural area, surrounded by small farmers plantations, closed to a chapel. The area of construction is limited by the main road and by those plantations, which means a small area with some restrictions. The original concept is to "close" the walls to the main road and open them to the pateo inside the allotment. Only small openings on the "closed" walls are made, to create that idea of a more intimate space, and to represent as well the small prayer windows of the chapel (as mimesis). The living/dinning room work as an open space and the kitchen is connected with the exterior to create the idea of continuity between inside and outside (lower level). On the upper level we have the bedrooms and to connect them we create an interspace (the office as intersection) to articulate all of the bedrooms. Because we want the continuity of the landscape "written" in the new object, “green areas” will appear on the roof and also in the small pateo/balcony on the living room. The color of the materials used in the skin of the new house is the interpretation of the ground color predominant in the landscape.
