Two single-occupancy or couples-appropriate graduate student residences, located in an alley between two existing dormitories in University City, Philadelphia, PA. The project uses adjacent buildings for structural support and connects with existing water and electrical systems. Through resourceful use and management of solar power, rainwater, and airflow, the project creates an architecture of symbiosis. The graduate resident is a cultivator of this space; the residence, a self-sustaining piece of decentralized urban infrastructure.
