AB design studio created an aesthetically enticing amenity space for a workforce residing in the redeveloped business park by utilizing three 8’x8’x40’ shipping containers. The architects drew inspiration from the gritty hardscape and landscape of New York City’s High Line to create a distinct sense of industrial urbanity in an otherwise suburban community. The space appeals to potential visitors and offers a captivating destination encouraging employees to remain within the campus. While working closely with the developer, landscape architect, and the campus’ executive architects, AB design studio identified a radical sculptural design that stretched the limits of possibilities for shipping containers. The design also inspires chance interactions among strangers, creating rapport among employees, while outdoor areas provide a respite from the tedium of desk work.
