Yost Grube Hall Architecture is a growing design firm seeking energetic, self-motivated, creative people looking to work in an open, team-based environment.  The Project Designer VI is responsible for initiating design concepts and leads design development for one or more projects in a manner consistent with YGH standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Define program requirements and establish design parameters based on client requirement; work with project architect and project manager.
  • Create and develop overall design concepts; formulate design presentation strategies and make presentations.
  • Manage design process for entire project; lead/direct the work of assistant designers and technical staff.
  • Manage design team members during the implementation of design to ensure that clarity and quality of concept are maintained throughout the design process.
  • Monitor project budget and schedule related to design team efforts.
  • Manage client interaction and decision making related to design.
  • May participate in business development activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The Project Designer will be responsible to lead a team of various people in all phases of project design.


  • A graduate of an accredited Master or Bachelor of Architecture degree program.

  • 12-16 years of experience in an architectural firm.

  • 5-8 years as a licensed architect.

  • LEED AP beneficial.

  • Revit, Microsoft Office, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and SketchUp experience preferred.

  • Technical experience in development and detailing of higher education facilities and Occupancy Groups A, B, E and M.

  • Technical understanding of building systems in Type I, Type II and Type III construction.

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10% beneficial.

  • Bilingual beneficial.

  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Must have excellent writing and communication skills.

    Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Employment will be contingent on successful completion of a comprehensive background screening and E-Verify.
