Let's say I see local buildings with beautiful details (ones that cannot be achieved by our in-house detail designers)... can I just call up the architect and ask them who they worked with from the contractor/consultant side? We big firms often use the same handful of companies, but results vary greatly depending on the specific guy you get. Our office tends to consistently get the B teams from the same consulting firms... not sure why, and how to change that.
