My favorite class in elementary school was geography and I still spend time on YouTube looking at videos to see cities and imagine being there since I don't travel much.
I started a thread called "Municipalities of the World" a while back. Inspired with its adventures and informative nature, this time I am dwelling on cities with a music video or two about them, their nostalgia and love affair we have with them as we see their unique architecture and urbanism on screen . I hope you will contribute to this collection as well as you did to the other.
I'll start with a city I have never physically been.
The guy that cuts my hair is from Uzbekistan, although his parents where Ukrainians that were forced (I think) to move to Uzbekistan by the Soviet Government. A couple haircuts ago we discussed the then upcoming US election, and he told me how elections in Uzbekistan are big holidays--everybody if off for like five days and the government supplies free food for everyone. "But, of course, the election itself is already fixed."
Also, the Russian produce market in the strip mall I used to go to regularly sold Uzbekistan bread. I never tried it, but I might go buy some tomorrow.
For the percussion fans this is so extraordinary. Taped on a location in Uzbekistan by an American jazz percussionist I know. A 14 minutes of talking drum trans. It progressively gets more intense. Just encountered it today.
Tashkent Video brought many great memories for me. I was visiting this city in late 80-s together with my friends all Architecture faculty students, and spent one week in Tashkent. we discovered "untouched" book store and all of us spent all money first day on books, as a result we were starving for the rest of the trip. just to clarify, finding good books on architecture was a big deal in Soviet Union.
We used the scene from Dear Diary when he is travelling through Rome on his vespa as the background for a presentation we did on Rome in 2nd year architecture - such a great film. This was back in the day of video dubbing - that as my job.
This video is my home town Auckland - a song by Liam Finn shot around a hidden gem of a chapel (probably prefab) in Parnell on the fringes of the CBD.
My favorite city is London, becasue after visiting London i decided to become an interior designer becasue, interior designing of London is world famous for very much attractive patterns using.

Tel Aviv is beautiful!
When I look for the city I often find music. Sometimes I find both like in Bombay. Worth every second.
