In Milwaukee's Urban Agriculture revolution, a new Food Village is in the works of being established in a previously fragmented community.
The objectives of the design are to create a neighborhood hub for food security and resilience fostering self reliance and community engagement.
Serving as Community Outreach Chair for the Emerging Green Builders at UWM, I'm working along with other students in coming up with schematic designs and helping spread the word.
The plan is to begin a non-profit to run the facilities which will include an aquaponics building, garden plots, processing center, food market, wellness center, reskilling building, and community clinic.
Currently were getting some press and there is a lot of excitement in the community, but it is taking time to raise the money to purchase the sites.
Does anyone know of any precedents, or resources that may help this project catch ground?
