Calculation for Scale at Various Distances

Cliftonabrown

Can anyone provide me with a calculation or method to determine how to draw an object at the correct scale so that it appears to be the same size at a different distance?

For example, if I were looking at a box that was 8 feet wide and 2.5 feet tall from a distance of 16 yards, what size would I draw the box to make it appear the same size if I were only standing 10 feet from it?

Thanks David!  So if I understand the calculation correctly it's basically going to be size / distance = new size / new distance?

So in my example the box would need to be drawn at 1.66' x .52' in order to appear the same size to my eyes from a distance of 10'?
