Walls that morph into ceilings...

Can anyone tell me how walls that flow into ceilings or create archways like those in the link below are created?  Would a wood structure be framed out and then plastered?  How are those gradual curves formed?

Yes i understand that.  But what's going on underneath?  Wood framing with wire lath?

How are the curves formed so smoothly?

It’s called Compound Curved Framing, look at companies like Radius Track....

Carrera - what sheathing system would you use over that framing? No gyp board is going to bend in two directions easily. Are you doing metal lathe and plaster over that?
