Interns are paid way too much.

Go ahead and place a moral judgement.  surely there aren't much better uses for your time.

StarchitectAlpha  Don't make this proposal to us, make it to the PMs and the head architect.

But be very clear on the following as you make your pitch:

1-How will a tech drafter ensure better quality drawings?

2- What is your role if you aren't  drafter or a PM?

2-How will you learn to manage a tech drafter in the future?

3- How will this improve your testing performance for licensure? Hit them with this bottom line. Licenses are very valuable in offices.

Fortune favors the bold, but it must be a tight proposal. Make that new title along with the roles and the responsibilities really clear. It needs to work for other interns and not just you. The worst that can happen is for them to say "no," and for you to say "explain to me why this does not work." Then go back and fix the holes and pitch your case at a later date.

Like Carrera said you don't have to go to the library to learn how to use a pencil. The tool is so complex now that it created it's own architecture - "parametrics".....besides Files post being very accurate in explanation, will add another thought employers may be thinking - well if the kid is a college graduate surely they can figure out this complex tool to make a drawing...
