Eames NW

Best Practice were approached by store owner, Adrian Eames, with a vision for a namesake brand that highlights men’s apparel and sneaker culture. The young entrepreneur was an expert in elevated basics in athleisure for men. He hoped to bring his carefully curated offerings to Seattle with his first venture into a brick and mortar shop.

Located near the border of both Wallingford and Fremont neighborhoods, the shop finds a home on a bustling street amongst the area’s other stores and cafes, just North of Seattle’s LAKE UNION. Transforming the small space meant taking advantage of every available nook for either display or storage, all while maintaining a comfortable and approachable environment.

A mezzanine was added to accommodate storage, using the stair up as an opportunity to create a display. A custom plywood and steel desk was designed around the stair and mezzanine structure, and doubled as a display case for small wares. Custom plywood casework was arranged to create an inner “living room,” in the space where customers can contentedly browse, or relax on the giant upholstered poufs while trying on sneakers. A large mirrored wall offers reflections of patrons in the store as well as the streetscape beyond.

“We looked to Adrian’s fashion sensibility for inspiration, complementing neutral blues and greys with a pattern and textured fabric, said Kailin Gregga, Best Practice Partner in Charge on the project.

Best Practice equipped the space with raw materials including recycled denim fabric, milled plywood, and powder coated metal. An existing concrete wall and floor were simply polished and left raw. Much like the actual the clothing, rich details complete the aesthetic of the store, including super clean LED strip lighting that is incorporated into display shelves and hand stitched leather straps that hang jeans.

The resulting space offers customers a sophisticated and textured space in which to browse, try on and buy clothing.
