Seattle Bicycling Guide Map
After presenting my thesis on bicycle wayfinding in Seattle, I was approached by the Seattle Department of Transportation to help with the 2010 version of the official Seattle Bicycling Guide map. My thesis project, while tying in to City measures where logical and possible, was a speculative project with largely unlimited bounds. But constraint is often a friend to design, and a collaboration with the client produced an even more fruitful result than the original proposal.
The map redesign focused on increasing the amount of information conveyed while making the map more approachable for new riders. The new map was incredibly well received by the cycling community and flew out the door of SDOT at a record pace.
