Phyllis P. Marshall Student Center

The Phyllis P. Marshall Center at the University of Florida is a 230,000 SF state of the art student union building. The building functions as the heart of the campus providing many of the student life organizational and support facilities critical to the function of the university. During the process of design, the Student body voted to provide $1,000,000 additional funding for the completion of an enhanced plaza located on the south side of the building. David Conner + Associates was subsequently added to the design team to develop the plan for the plaza. The final project, which was completed in time for the Fall 2009 semester, includes an elliptical shaped amphitheater, movie lawn, and numerous outdoor seating areas. The main feature of the project is the Bronze Bulls sculpture and fountain which uses only recycled water from the building chillers as a water source. It is now the central symbol for the campus.
