Fast becoming recognized as the premier recreation center in the state, Highlands Recreation Complex provides residents of the city with a beautiful and peaceful setting to exercise, swim, party, play tennis, or simply take a leisurely walk with the family dog. The design for the facility carefully places the new building and facilities against to a natural Pine forest and wetland. The building features a two story glass reception area connecting the building with the natural landscape. The parking area has been design to allow for the forest of trees to ultimately the building as part of the landscape. The project site is an existing park that master planned to provide new parking for 200 cars, two outdoor basketball courts, a multipurpose playfield, four tennis courts, three playgrounds, a shelter and restroom building, jogging trails and several natural pathways.
