Washington Apartments Facade Improvements

For this project, the client sought to 'announce' the entryways to a stretch of multifamily residential apartments in the District of Columbia with canopies and illuminated signage, and improve the common areas / lobbies with new lighting and finishes.

After collaborating on the scope with the client, she and I divided the overall intervention into two phases.  The interiors were largely assigned to the second phase which has yet to start. The first phase included canopies and illuminated 'monument' signage and lobby lighting.

Here, I worked with a project manager who provided advice on an as-needed basis and contacts for expediters.  This was my first project with Wiencek and Associates, and my second solo effort at all.

At least two complete iterations were developed and presented to the client who eventually selected the most cost-effective (the most reserved) design for installation.  I worked with several manufacturer's representatives to take the proposal from a simple sketch on trace issued by an intern to complete documentation (including plats) for canopies, lobby lighting and monument signage.

The drawings and documentation were issued, and shop drawings were reviewed and approved.  At which point, the project was handed over to other staff that oversaw construction.
