Lyon Beaux Arts Museum Extension

The Fine Arts Museum of Lyon resides within the Palace de Saint-Pierre, overseeing the Place des Terreaux. This Baroque-style palace was once an abbey featuring a central courtyard that now hosts a splendid public garden. Across the main square, numerous residential buildings surround another potential courtyard along with the Church of Saint Pierre. Our proposal is centered on reevaluating the values and functions of the ground floor spaces, focusing on two primary objectives: enhancing the courtyards by assigning new functions to adjacent spaces and elevating the museum's appeal through a more enticing entrance and new pathways.

The primary operations involve enhancing the ground floor by introducing studios, art workshops, and laboratories. Additionally, a new structure within the courtyard will house a winter garden and a bookstore, while another new building will accommodate the new hall and logistical spaces, thereby augmenting the museum's facilities and attractiveness.
